my mistake

elykyllek Oct 08, 2003 04:51 PM

I have a peice of fake driftwood in my uro's tank. He likes to climb over it etc. Today though, I could find him anywhere in his tank. Turns out I made the mistake of not putting the driftwood on the bottom of the tank and so he burrowed under the sand and up into the hollow driftwood. He now appears to be stuck, or refuses to get out of it.

I really don't like the idea of him being up in it, with the basking lamp on it gets quite hot in there, probably more than even he can stand.

Can anyone recommend a way to coax him out?

If you can safely get some fingers behind his shoulders, try to move him a little that way. Another option would be food. He's gonna get hungry sooner or later, and if you wave a little piece of greens in front of his face he might just come out and get it. Is the driftwood hollow like a cylinder? I'm trying to picture this in my head...

Unfortunately I cannot reach his shoulders, and putting food infront of him is no good either, because hes now got his tail blocking the entrance. I have no way of knowing whether or not he just likes it up in there, or if hes now stuck. I used to be able to see that one of his front legs was pinned up against the wall, so that has me concerned.

If he doesn't come out tomorrow, I'm going to have to get drastic, and take my dremel to it or something.... Very frustrating.

I guess I should have just been patient before starting this thread, because when I looked in the tank this morning he had gotten himself out.

Thanks anyway.
