Which are more fun pets in anyones opinion and why? Do snakes ever calm down out of wandering? I was looking for a reptile that would just chill or wouldn't go to far on my desk while I was doing my homework or watching tv

Smaller reptiles in the open will generally be looking for a place to hide. This means there is almost no smaller reptile that will sit still on a desk. My bearded dragon will sit on the back of my couch for a few minutes, but then tries to jump off and make for a hide spot. Almost all snakes start searching for a nice dark hole as soon as you put them down. Many smaller ones will sit happily inside a sleeve, though.
My one reptile that does sit still is a blood python, and it's really incredibly boring. He... just... sits... there!

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

As far as FUN goes I guess I would have to say bearded dragons. They have great little personalities and can and will chill at the computer. Beardies are more interactive.
Snakes and beardies are just too different to compare, though. They both make excellent pets, it just depends on what you are looking for in a reptile.

beardies love to play! they are very fun, great pets. but they also enjoy there space or just hang out time. I have a uro, they are great to. less likly to take a chomp at a finger compared to a beardie.
Well I keep both Snakes and Bearded Dragons.
-I have 2 snakes, (Ball Python and Corn) and 22 Bearded Dragons. Lol, so I guess I do kinda like Beardies better. ;o)
Both snakes and lizards are each very special, interesting and unique in their own ways.
The main reason I do not keep more snakes than I do is because my mom does NOT like snakes...
(However, I will be getting a mate for my Corn in the next few months.
)
Anyway, Snakes and Beardies are both Great reptiles and I love them both.

Lauren,
I love that pic of your BP. It's the classic Loch Ness Monster pose. When I come in my room on feeding day I usually have at least one corn with it's head sticking up out of the aspen like that.
It cracks me up.

I also have a cornsnake and bearded dragon. Both have interesting personalities. However two things to keep in mind. Corn snakes are active more during the night so, duirng the day they are more included to hide. Dragons are active during the day so may be content to sit by a computer for awhile before moving off to explore. At night the dragon is more likely to be asleep....and probably will stay asleep if you move him...
I have way too many creveses, nocks and grannies for a snake to hide in to want to risk putting him near my computer. My dragon would be easier to find but because he is more prone to explore, will be hunting him down every 10 minutes.
So..for a reptile to just sit and stay where you put him, I recommend the little beanie baby type reptiles. I have two of them by my computer, they never move and are always easy to find.
Or, you can get a bull python...which just sits there...from what i heard.
