Butterfly Agama..KEEPS LOSING TOES!

PanicAtTheGecko Oct 29, 2014 04:41 PM

I recently got a baby butterfly agama female from Petco...I know I know never get reptiles from there, but she was so sweet I had to take her home with me. Its been about a month and a half and I noticed recently some toes turning black...then FALLING OFF. Now, Ive discussed whether or not this may have been caused by lack of humidity or stuck shed, however it seems to be fine... I mist it daily and bath her every few days as I do all my lizards. I did read once that it had to do with their VERY fragile toes and how they dig up the glass and break them, resulting in them falling off. The vet said there really wasnt much to do by apply anticeptic and wait for nature to take its course, but how can I stop this from happening to all her toes? She only has 4 left on her front feets!!!!

Check the toes carefully and see if there is ny carpet fibers from the repticarpet that was likely used. That could be cutting the circulation off on the toes.
