hey everyone

Sophie's having much more fun outside nowadays, even in cold weather!

I took her out back to play ball today (on a retractable leash) and boy did we have fun! hehehe

You would think a nice long romp in the backyard would get atleast a little energy drained, right? haha! noooo way... She came inside about twice as wired as before! silly girl.

We still have around a foot of snow in the backyard where paths haven't been cleared out with the snow blower. It's firm enough for me to stand on. This snow has really gotten to me. Just when it starts to melt, it snows again! It snowed on thursday of this and last week! However, the temp is supposed to shoot up to mid 50's tomorrow, so I'm psyched!! :D The woodpeckers are out and so are some birds; I think it's a sign of spring on our heels! *crosses fingers*

Gotta love NY...

How are your puppers doing? How's Cheyenne? And Brutus? How are his prey drive sessions with the toy coming along? Oh, and did I tell you that I saw someone walking an AB on the way home last night? exciting! I am not sure if it was a complete AB, perhaps a mix? I just hope that AB's don't turn into a fad. It would be heartbreaking to see them overbred like Dalms or Labs.

We in Maryland had our (I hope) last gasp of winter Wednesday afternoon - it was flurrying and spitting snow but without any sticking. Last Saturday, I saw my first robin of the year, and Friday, I smelled the earth for the first time and it smelled of Spring. Hard to define but there was a smell of new grass, especially the timothy hay, which is very fragrant, and very damp but not cold earth. Yesterday was cool but above freezing and today is really springlike. I filled all my feeders with seed and suet because the spring birds have sneaked back over this week and are now singing like mad (and getting ready to nest).

My back yard was still carpeted with snow last weekend but then turned into two raging creeklets and a mini-lake with snow melt. Now I have saturated ground and mud! My girls are very happy to be squishing through mud, rather than swimming through snow, though the kitchen floor is a bit muddy. Their energy has come back and Amber was bounding around and even Natasha, who hasn't been doing well, was lifting her head and sniffing happily.
