Suzie's first NADAC games

kathyg Mar 18, 2003 10:18 AM

Suzie's first real trial ever was this weekend in Greensburg PA at the NADAC games trial. There were three runs each of Tunnelers, Weavers and Touch N Go. Suzie ran all three Tunnelers clean and got a 2nd place and a 4th place ribbon--but no Qs because we are 3-7 seconds too slow for NADAC's tight times!! Well, WE aren't too slow--I am!! LOL--Suzie is greased lightning! She ran two of the Touch N Go's clean with one second place, but again over time. Third Touch N Go run I decided to rev her up and run like I'd never run before---bad move, she was so revved up she flew OVER all the contacts....oops! Weavers were a bit too much for her. She'd never practiced doing more than six at a time and this called for doing six four times and 12 once during the run. It was too much stress for her and I ended up taking her out all three runs. Even though we didn't get any Qs, I was very happy that she was able to run clean 5 out of the 9 runs. Working on speed is a whole lot easier than re-training accuracy!! Now to get out the old clicker and work on our weaves after a long cold weaveless winter!

WOW! CONGRATS! WTG! You must be very proud!

I have a brag myself What a great agility weekend we had! My lil BC gal competed for the first time and she did awesome! The agility club that I belong to put on a USDAA trial (lots of work but fun). It was windy and raining, but it didn't seem to bother her. I entered her in 22" Performance I. On Saturday she did Gamblers and she got 1st! Then in Standard she got 4th! This was because she got on the table but jumped off then back on. On Sunday she got 2nd in Snooker, 2nd in Standard and 3rd in Jumpers! OMG! I'm so thrilled! She is awesome! I wish I had pictures to share, but I only have videos.

Talk about WOW!! Congratulations to you! I can see why you are so proud of her! It was awesome watching the BCs at the games trial. I was a bit intimidated at first seeing all these amazing BCs running so fast and clean at Novice level--then I realized that they were only Novice in the NADAC games, but most were at Elite and Excellent levels in the regular trials. Y'know--with the right cables you can snag stills off the video and post them.... really, you can!!

Yes, the BC's are amazing dogs. Naturals. I also run a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. What a difference! LOL! Really hard to keep ahead of the BC!

Yeah, those bc's can be very quick and intimidating. However, just remember that being fast isn't everything! I have seen more bc's have faults than any other dog. . .better to be more percise.

glad your first nadac experience was a fun one..yes Nadac has really tight course times, but that is why I love nadac, it's fast and furious..
The last Elite Jumpers course I did with my GSD, the course time was all of 24 seconds, she did it in 26 clean,,not bad for a vet who has OCD (genetic knee defect)
I usually run their games with the mindset of "i'm going for broke"..My GSD is a fearless dog that doesn't run on the cautious side, so I just let her rip..we either do it or we don't..Loads of fun tho

Wow! Impressive time! Yes, I also agree that it is money well spent if you can take a seminar with a pro.
