Another question...

v_b_x Mar 27, 2003 07:22 AM

Because I've lately been spending most of my class time online looking at APBT kennels and trying to figure out the different lines. I've stumbled upon at least 3 kennels that openly talking about fighting their dogs, and they are selling these pups by boasting of their parents wins... How do they get away with running kennels that are openly fighting dogs? Exactly how underground is the dog fighting world?

How do they get away with fighting dogs openly?
For one, I doubt they are doing anything openly as that would get an arrest team to kill all their dogs, destroy their home, and put them in prison on felony charges. The kids tend to be the ones getting caught and abusing at the most extreme levels. Next there is something called freedom of speech. How do you know they are not lying, how do you know he isn't telling a fictional story? They have movie producers that come up with far more gruesome stories and violent movie pictures and they are glorified for the work and creativity for it. For example, pulp fiction, true lies with Arnold Swartzanegger (if that's how you spell it), Terminator, Aliens, Behind enemy lines, and can go on and on. People will then say, well, it’s just a movie. Well some things aren't fake and are serious. For example the people that are in the aryan nation/aryan brotherhood/kkk sites that promote murder of humans that simply look or speak different than they or whatever stupid other reasons with no hard facts. They want to topple the government and take over the USA through domestic terrorism, which they would have to take on other countries like China, Russia, and Many Middle Eastern countries that would love to take the opportunity to take the territory and the rest of the survivors over. Then I think the militia guys would have to think twice as they would most likely be defeated horribly. These countries DON'T play. Even in their own societies. What do you think they would do to them? I know it sounds dumb to those who aren't involved with those organizations but many times they don't cover all the bases before doing something stupid. As they and the rest of everyone else that live here without hatred would suffer. Do you see all of them in jail or incarcerated? No, you can't arrest someone based off of accusations or because you don't like what they believe in. Here in the good ol' US of A, you need proof. So what you need to do, which I don't recommend, is to infiltrate the dog owners yard and become one of them and PROVE that they are doing what you think they are doing. Then, you will be arrested because you are not law enforcement. Just like a Good Samaritan who found cocaine on the side of the sidewalk and brings it to the cops to prevent a child from getting it. Well, they would arrest that person and charge them with possession and give them a felony. Only the "Cops" can do "sting" operations. That said, I am done on this question. The easiest way is if you don't want it, don't buy it and support them. Period.

How underground is the dog fighting world?
How underground? I would guess pretty deep, as there are many folks that own dogs here in the US. I guess it comes down to whom you know.

If they are lying about fighting these dogs, that is no better. They are obviously lying to market their dogs to dog fighters. So if they are lying or if they are not lying, they are still marketing their dogs to the dog fighting world. I my opinion... not good.

The american pit bull terrier was developed and breed to be a fighting dog. Many years of breeding the gamest dogs have produced an exceptional dog. Today the run of the mill pit or staff is just a dog resembeling a true pit, and in a lot of cases they do not even do that. There are many people and places where there are still pit contests. The people who have champion and grand champion pit dogs are just as proud of their dogs as the U.K.C. conformation or obedience champs. While searching through different kennels you will find a pup or stud fee from a pit champion will cost you a lot more than a conformation or obedience champ. Different people want different things out of their dogs, but it makes no sense to want a performance dog like the pit and not want to accept what makes the dog what it is today.
I have owned, bred, and trained both champion conformation and grand champion pit dogs and for one am glad that such a great dog has endured all that has been thrown at it for so many years. That would not have been possible with out people who have tried to keep the gameness in the breed.
