Our Jack Russell eating regularly...

SeaTuon Apr 10, 2003 03:48 PM

Well apparently our dog Colbi just had a shiness and unsureness. Because after a week of being with us he is up to two 1.5 ounce cans of authority wet food. He eats Beef and Rice, Chicken and Rice, Turkey and Rice, and Lamb and Rice. We are happy with the progress that he has made. I have started on some basic training with clickers. Sit, down, roll over, and look at me.

Thank you for all your suggestions.

Quick question what do you all think of the Parson vs. Jack??

I prefer the name Jack Russell.. Is there a difference between the two names??

Well. i suppose it would depend on who you asked to see if they are diferent.
My personal view, it's all in a name." A rose by any other name would smell as sweet"
I have dogs that were born in Kennels that later went KC,now i had not teken mine that direction so is this the same dog? Yes,it is.
I personally like the GB style dog, big dog up to 14" and heavy boned.Bitch to be refined but not thin or frail in any way.Coats to be heavy, but kept groomed for showing.
So. if you seen this discription of my dog you would think mine are KC,but in fact they are JRTCA.I think many people have seen a few large dogs that are going by the Parson name and here is the confusion.
At one time the JRTCA accually held the copy right name of Parson Russell.
sorry to get into the speech.

I don't mind the long speech.

So...essentially the Parson is suppose to be a short version of the Jack Russell, with cute wittle legs. and the Jack Russell is with longer legs like my little guy...

Personally I prefer the name Jack Russell. I just happened to see a little article on the web about Parson vs. Jack...

I've been working on getting Colbi's mind working, he is doing great. he sits, down, rollover, crawls... I've working on Play Dead and Shake. Play Dead will be easy. It's shake that will be hard as he lays down each time I go for his paw.

Yesturday, we went to San Francisco, which is an hour from us. He loved it, all the people, the birds, the smells. All except for those big BAD waves. He thought they needed a good barking at...

OK..I guess i didn't write it the correct way.Short Jack are not Parson or Jacks..they are what is recognized by the UKC as "Russell" terrier. also knicknamed "Stable Russells"
The "Parson" and "Jack" are the same dog.the name change is only a business move. The name is a copyright.
Maybe that will clear it up.
Remember,it was only this year the Jack Russell had a new name. The AKC needed a name that was not the same of the JRTCA.
