Hi! I am a new Lab owner, we just got our new puppy this weekend. I already feel she will be the best dog I've ever had. She seems to be great with the kids, and very smart. Any ideas about potty training? we've only had a couple of accidents. She will be an indoor/outdoor dog. Thanks!

For potty training, supervision is the key. When the pup is not under your direct eyeballs--keep the pup in the room with someone who is actively watching her--she needs to be in a place where she won't make a housetraining mistake, such as her crate. Be sure to crate-train, because Labs tend to get into destructive chewing in adolescence, and at that point it's much harder to introduce crate training. Don't miss the chance to teach a puppy to rest calmly in a crate when she's still young and so adaptable. It's an important life skill for dogs, and can be especially so for Labs.
