Joplin and I were in Atlanta for the Borzoi Club's field trial and Joplin emerged with his first, first place. He entered in open so as to have some competition (there are very few veterans) and, after politely ignoring some comments about being "point fodder", WON. We missed breed by a point, but the dog that won is an awesome greyhound, and belongs to a friend of mine. He's very high in the top 20- likely number 1 or 2 when they redo the top 20. Soooo, I'm certainly gaining a new perspective on Joplin. Most people talk about their greyhounds being "seniors" when they're his age- he'll be 8 in July, but as he gets in better and better condition, he is acting younger and younger. Yes, we have longer rubdowns, and we haven't yet run two days in a row- I don't want to push him. I am hoping to have him ready for two days in a row at a trial in a couple of weeks in Gainesville. I wonder if ASFA has stats on who the oldest dog to become a FCh is? LOL. If he can keep running for a while longer we may be close.
