New Pic...He likes the water

ada123 Jun 08, 2003 07:27 AM

Simon is 11 months now. He really never got the chance to explore the water when we firt got him. I purchased a wading pool and he jumped right in. I was surprised to see him stick his head in up to his eyes to search for his toy. I didnt know dogs would stick their nose in the water. I am so glad he likes it.
Next month we take our Therapy Dog International test when he is a year old. We did the test while he was taking his CGC just to see who he would do. He did fine. I will still wait a while before we do visits, since he is rambunctious in new settings but that will come with time. He is a silly teenager now.

Awww, he looks so cute searching in his pool! It's amazing how fast they grow up.

I'll keep my fingers crossed on him and his test. What a wonderful thing to do. I'm sure he will settle down. You know how them teenagers are!

What a beauty he is! Great picture. My Sebastian actually HATES the water. We walk down to the lake and he hides behind me if the waves are rippling. It's sad really
He's calm enough for the Pet therapy?
What is your secret? Sebastian (18 months) is still EXTREMELY high strung. I'd love to have him as a therapy dog. He is a sweetheart once he calms down.

Funny you should ask...is he calm? Pretty much yes he is. He gets excited about visiting new places, whereas he acts like I am not on the end of the leash. I am working on his attention to me and not his surroundings. He is an angel in obedience classes etc. My secret...keep them tired. I excercised him for an hour an half today before a class. He was tired and behaved very well. He is not focused on me like I would like him to be so I am not taking the chance of visiting nursing homes or hospitals until he matures...it could be when he is 2yrs old, who knows.
But he is gentle, he wont jump up on you, but sometimes he likes to sneak through your legs while you are petting him..that would surely knock someone over who wasn't expecting it.
