pic of me and my new pup

His name is Se7en (pronounced Seven). He's 4 months old and 51.1 lbs and he's also deaf. His sire was 216 lbs and his dam was 190. He's bigger at 4 months than his sire was at the same age. My wife and I plan on adopting several more Danes (we are currently looking for other deaf Danes since so many people seem to think less of them).

Wow, he is darling! I wish the whites didn't have so many problems, they cannot be bred for and many are 'culled' (killed) as pups or have so many problems they die early on (as in the first few weeks, no need to worry about your new guy), they are so stunning when all white. Be careful with sun, I think the whites can get burned very easily. Have you had a deaf dog before? There are a lot of resources online, let me know if you need help finding training info.

There are several Deaf Dane rescue groups, not sure where they are, but there is one in Oregon.

I actually used to do obedience training when I did a lot of pit bull, chow and Siberian husky breeding. Se7en already knows the hand signals for sit, stay and come. I did tons of research on leucistic Great Danes long before we got him and we plan on joining the Dane club when we get back to my native Savannah next week.

He is gorgeous! Good for you also for getting the 'less popular' deaf danes. My friend at work has a deaf dane mix. She is the BEST dog he ever had.

Good luck with Se7ven!!

It's not that people think less of deaf danes, it's caused by bad breeding. If a dane has a litter and there is a dane pup that nas no black on him whatsoever, chances are he will be blind or deaf or both. If you keep such a pup breeding is not good as you will produce this again.
Have you started him in sign lanugage?
