Looking for breeder by Tatto Signature

I recently adopted a Rottweiler puppy that had a tatto on her stomach from the Austin Animal Shelter. I'm trying to find out more of her past & thought I may be able to find her breeder through the tatto.

Does anyone know of a breeder that puts this tattoo on their pups?

I suspect that tatoo means the dog has been spayed. This is sometimes done to protect the dog from having to be opened up again because it wasn't possible to tell if a spay had been done. Show that to your vet, and see what he/she thinks.

You could also see if she's been micro chipped. Some breeders do that too.

If the pup was an owner surrender maybe the shelter could give the previous owner a call and ask them to contact you. Austin has a wonderful animal network and pet rescues. I love the communities commitment to animals!

That's exactly what it is. It means that she has been spayed.

Lynn, so that tatoo (which I can barely make out) is common for a dog being spayed? Wow, have NEVER seen it. Of course, with a dog the size of a rottie, its not hard to ultrasound and generally even palpate to see if spayed, but with small dogs that would be a godsend if they routinely did it.

MANY breeders tattoo. Your very best bet is to send a copy of the tattoo to the local Rottweiler clubs. You can probably contact these people for any in your area.
