How about a 40 gallon?

smurfskill Oct 08, 2003 09:43 PM

Is a 40 gallon big enough for 1 single adult bearded dragon? Or should I spend the extra $20-$30 on a 55?

Really depends on how big your dragon gets... I personally don't like the 55 gallon tanks for adult dragons bc they are too skinny for a large adult.. if your dragon stays around 12 or 13" it's not as big of a deal.. but most of our dragons push 18" or higher and a 55 gallon is too narrow.

I like the dimensions of 40 breeders better... they are 36" long by 18" wide... that is a good size for "smaller" adults. If you can, I would go with a 75 wide I think they call it... 48" long by 18" wide.. that's a pretty good size for most out there.

We use 48" x 24" x 16" cages we build out of melamine for our adults and they work great. Though they are not the prettiest they offer plenty of room.
