HELP...I took my doxie to the vet today since she is having bad stomach upset and keeps getting up and spinning around and crying and cant get comfortable. The doctor said sounded like world war in her tummy and gave me Flagyl to give to her but now she will eat nothing! Not even her favorite foods and is still crying and spinning.

Call your vet again. The vet can't provide continuing care unless you provide continuing updates when the situation changes. The dog is in pain. If you can't get the dog to your regular vet, in your place I would take the dog to the emergency vet.

Does your dog have a history of stomach problems?
Flagyl is for Giardia. If this is a one time
thing, it could definately be Giardia, especially if
the dog has diarrea. If this has been a regular occurance,
then read below:

My dachsund Fritz, started out with severe stomach
pains (dragging its belly, whining, restlessness, trying
over and over to poop with no avail)
about once a month. Gradually, the frequency increased
to once a week. Many hours of research led me to
the issue of his DIET. It turns that there are a lot
of crappy ingredients in most commercial dog food.
These questionable ingredients include: BHA/BHT,
corn, wheat, soy, ethoxyquin, proyl gallate, propylene glycol,
animal digest, brewer's rice. Just like humans, most
ingredients ingested doesn't immediately affect you.
But over the course of your life, not eating healthy will
shorten your life. And again just like humans, there
is a small percentage of the population that is very sensitive
to certain ingredients with immediate gastro-intestinal effects.

My dog is one of these few.
You will hear from a lot of people: "how can
corn, wheat, or soy products can be questionable.?"
My philosophy is that, in the wild, these items are
not a natural part of a dog's diet. The major dog-food
maufacturers use them as main ingredients because
it is far less expensive to produce. It's not that
they are really "harmful" but "less-digestable."

If you look at some of the higher-priced, nutrionally
guaranteed dog foods like: CANIDAE and DICK VAN PATTEN'S
brand, as well as many others, you will notice the ingredient
list always starts with some sort of meat, not GRAIN.

Ever since swithching my dog to "Canidae" canine maintenance
dog food (top 4 main ingredients are "human-grade" lamb, beef, fish and turkey) and not feeding him table scraps, his stomach
acts up maybe only once every 3 months.

Keep in mind, the "better" food is a little more expensive, but your dog will require less because it is not packed with fillers and is more nutrionaly complete.
I AM IN NO WAY ADVERTISING FOR A PARTICULAR BRAND,
because there are I would say about (12) brands of
high-quality foods I was willing to try.
The one I chose is the second brand I experimented with
which worked.

GOOD LUCK!
