Hi, anyone have any great ideas on how to get a dog used to wearing a dog pack?

Hi!!
I would put the backpack on and leave it for a short amount of time...keep working your way up. As you go along I would start adding stuff to it, so the dog will also get use to the weight. Have fun hiking!! My boys love to go..we used to do it alot, but now the old guy is restricted. Don't forget to post the pics afterwards.

Do you plan on going on hiking trips, or is it to teach him to help a handicapped person?

Just to go on trips with us. We had a break through this weekend. I just left the pack out in the room, let him sniff it, etc. Then I put a few treats in it to let him really investigate it. The next day I put it on him empty. One it was on him, he was fine. The only part he was bothered by was the act of putting on his back. So, if we just get him comfortable with that, we'll be good to go!
