English Bulldogs and potty training

TamJ Oct 02, 2003 02:39 PM

I have 3 english blulldogs. 1- 8 month old and 1 5 month old adn one 3 month old. They potty in there Kennels all the time. Our back yard is fenced so they are outside a lot. They go out right after eating. Bring them in to their Kennles and the poop adn pee. Then they lay in it. No matter what we do they still go. They get the last feeding at 4:00 pm and still poop adn pee over the night time hours. I hve tried everything. Just very frustraited. Beginning to think bulldogs can't be trained!!!!!!! Anyone else with these problems and is this common in this breed to not potty train easy.

Are you rewarding them when they do their business outside? By rewarding I mean that you should sound really exicted (high pitched voice) and say things like "Good boy!" etc and even give them a bit of a favorite treat. Do these things the second they finish.

With any puppy it really is more a matter of you becoming trained about when they need to go out - body language, time since last time, etc.

Eventually though they will get it. Goliath picked it up very quickly and we have taught him several tricks as well. He is very food motivated so training went smoothly.

Good luck!
