RE: peeing on carpets... Hannah does do very well at night, from when she goes to sleep at about 10pm, til 7am, no needing to go out to pee. SO why this big issue in the day? seems she can hold her bladder well at night.

Just like with humans, when a dog is asleep their body circulates a substance through the body that suppresses the function of bowel and bladder. That's how a lot of people are able to sleep through the night without having to go to the bathroom. During waking hours, the body has to relieve itself extra times to make up for not doing it during these sleep hours.
