I need to know if I can trust the doseage on corona vaccine

bellaamy58 Jan 28, 2004 02:57 PM

Hi, I have alway's given my own vacinations to my dog's and their pup's. I had been using vanguard5 as recomended by my previous vet. I have now moved and changed vets. I am now about to give the corona and bordetella vaccines to my dog's. The question I have is that revival say's to give the full 1ml doseage to each dog even the five month old pup I have (she is three lbs 12onz.
I am afraid of overdosage on her since she is under five pounds. I have two other dog's one year old at five lbs 5onz and then the rest vary at around six and seven pounds. Do you recomend the full 1ml dose for all of them including the youngest? Should I give both vaccines at the same time? I am now switching to fort dodge puppy shots to avoid this problem in the future but I want to do right by my dog's as far as getting the correct dosage of these two other vaccines into them. Thanks,
Amy Dawson-Smith

I give a full dose to my pups, even starting them out. I've not had a problem. If you're secure that your line is clear of allergy problems should be no problem... HOWEVER, that said, check with your vet. Vaccine protocals have changed over the years.

I give corona and lepto. The main reason is I understand there has been an outbreak of lepto in the east, and a friend of mine had 4 dogs come down with corona.. she lost 2.

Also there was a lepto outbreak about 5 years ago here in our state as well. I'm not taking chances.

Statistically, the average breeder remains in a breed for five years. The mark you leave on that breed, good or bad, is entirely up to YOU!
