chewing on cushions and mattresses

kellieleigh Jan 28, 2004 10:15 PM

i have 2 dauchshunds and most of the time they are both really good but we are having a problem with one or possibly both of them. One or both of our dogs are chewing into and tearing up our couch cushions and here very recently our mattress on our bed. We would like to know what may be causing this destructive behavior and what we can do to prevent it from continuing. By the way in the case of the couch cushion...it is very specific they only go after one every time....and they have dug holes all the way down to the springs in our matress....we would like some advice on the matter... Thank you very much

Leaving your dogs unattended can be very dangerous. I recommend that you get either a baby gate to lock them in a room where they cannot get at things to chew on except for doggie safe toys or get an x-pen, its like a small portable fence put them in there when you are not around.
