Dutch Shepherd

aysel Jan 31, 2004 12:48 PM

I've recently been reading up on the Dutch Shepherd. I'm really interested in them. Does anyone here have experience with them? I probably wouldn't end up buying one anytime soon. In 5 years maybe. There are puppies available in TX for 600 which seems pretty reasonable to me, as compared to GSD and Mals. I don't think I would want a dog as hot as a Mal. Quoting a website "thedogmen.com" The personality of the Dutch Shepherd is somewhere between that of a German Shepherd and that of a Malinios. You get the performance of a Malinois with a more forgiving nature of The German Shepherd's Dog.

so anyway, any opinions from you guys out there?

A Dog Owner's Prayer

Oh Lord, don't let me once forget how I love my trusty pet.
Help me learn to disregard canine craters in my yard.
Show me how to be a buddy even when my sofa's muddy.
Don't allow my pooch to munch postal carriers for lunch.
Shield my neighbor's cat from view--guide my steps around the doo.
Train me not to curse and scowl when it's puppy's night to howl.
Grant I shan't awake in fear with a cold nose in my ear.
Give me patience without end--help me be my dog's "best friend".

I like the Dutchies. And, in my experience, the site that you saw is right. They've typically got more drive than a GSD, but not as friggin' nuts as a Mal. Out of curiosity, do you have a phone, or link to the breeder in TX that has them for 600?

It doesn't have a price listed for the pups though.
