Hello,
I'm currently fostering a 1- 2 year old Chihuahua mix(12lbs), she has 5 babies(3 boys, two girls). They will be 6 days tomorrow. Well, they have been eating well gaining weight. Well, while they eat they make noise, a bit like a crying. They really go at the teat, and I don't see what the problem could be. Is this normal, or should I be worried? They sleep quietly. Also another thing is two of the pups sleep with their mouths open a little. Is this OK? I'm sorry first time mom, giving this poor little girl and her pups a home. Please email if you think there is something wrong, or just want to give some help to those in need(being me and the pups). Thank you for your time in reading

Hi Kat! It has been a very long time since I have had puppys in the house, but from what you have written, except for you being very nervous, it would appear all is well. The little pups are still very very young and from what I remember they make all kinds of sounds, while eating, playing and sleeping. Hopefully if there is something amiss someone more knowledgable with pups will be able to let you know.

I think you should be commended for taking on the responsibilty of fostering a mom and her new born pups. I think I would be a little nervous as well. I mainly post on the Shiba board, if you would ever care to place an update or question there. I'll check this thread from time to time or do you post on the Chihuahua board...I could always check there also for updates.

Thanks! They all went to the vet just in case yesterday and all's fine. The little girl has a runny nose but they are finding a treatment and she should be fine I'm planning on keeping one of the little girls ! They are 8 days today.
