Thinking of a Lab

adriel Feb 29, 2004 07:27 PM

My boyfriend and I are very active, we run, hike, snowshoe, and just generally enjoy being outside. Because of this, we think a lab would be the ideal dog for us. My only concern is that we live in a fairly small apartment. So, my question is, given a daily run and plenty of romps in the park, would a lab be able to adapt to apartment life, or is this a bad idea?

Dogs are highly adaptable, if you choose the right dog. There are Labs who can hang out calmly around the house between exercise sessions, and there are many Labs who cannot. Up to age 2 to 2 1/2 years, most Labs are a real handful.

Have you thought about moving to a house? Having a fenced yard the dog can romp in several times a day even when you're busy is a huge help to the family in dog care. Apartment living with dogs is a complicated lifestyle.
