Your replies will be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Usually about 3 years but, lately some breeders have been going for bigger dogs with a longer growing span of about 4 years. If you haven't experience the terrible 2's (bratty just like a two year old kid, with the attitude of a teenager) the dog still has some growing to do.

The Rottweiler stops growing by the age of 2
Females typically should be no more than 85lbs.
Males typically should be no more than 120lbs.

Anyone that tells you they have 150lb. rottie usually has an overweight dog.

Hi! Rotti-fan is right. I have a 175lb rottie that is horridly overweight. However, try as I might I can't get the weight off of him.

The "norm" is about 2 yrs but it will definately depend on the bloodline. Jake stopped growing at 2 then all of a sudden started growing again at about 3 1/2. He not only gained weight but his legs got longer. Go figure, that's what we get for buying a dog from a back yard breeder.

He's also got structural problems. Cruciate ligaments week and tore. Be sure not to let your Rottie get too heavy too fast.

Brandy had gained 10lbs over the last year and while this doesn't sound like a lot, she also has knee problems that were getting alot worse. I started cutting back on her portion size for breakfast and feed her a can of green beans for supper. I also gave the dh a major lecture about slipping her extra treats. She took off the weight, her knee is getting better and she's actually getting a waistline. These kids love green beans. (even my cat eats them) they're a great filler with no fat and few calories. Give it a try. If you usually give your dog a lot of treats, keep a bowl of green beans around and slip one of them to him instead of the doggies snacks.
We may not be able to keep ourselves on a diet but WE control what our dogs eat, so they don't have any choice.
