Hi,
I figured this forum would be the best to get some advice. Although I've considered breeding sometime in the future it definitely wasn't the plan now, and not with our two current dogs who are rescue mixes. Our 7 month old went into heat a few weeks ago and escaped the next day. They were gone until around 1:30am (showed up wet, cold and happy). Now she is showing signs of pregnancy. After calling the vet we are pretty convinced she is pregnant.
Any advice you can give me would be helpful. Should I feed her special things? They have an automatic feeder and waterer so they eat and drink whenever they want to. Are they any risks with having pups so young? The vet said no, mostly that she might not take care of the puppies properly. I can't think of any more questions but would just like some general advice on what to do. It would be much appreciated!
Sincerely,
Laura

Laura,
I am glad your puppies made it home safely. How far along is she? I am guessing about 15 days. I can't remember when you said they ran away. I think it was around April 4th. I would probably have them aborted only because she is so young, and there are so many dogs out there that don't have homes. But if you don't beleive in that I am sorry for mentioning it.
If you do decide to go ahead with pregnancy, I would just bring her to the vet regular for check ups.
BTW: How was your wedding?

HISGIRL!!!! You left me hanging in, I think it was the 'kittens' forum, but you said your puppies got away and you never gave us an update!!!!! ARRGG!!

Anyway, so I'm wondering how long ago they got home? What breeds are they? sexs? ages? (well you said you had 2 right?)

Ah, I don't really have any advice... there is a VERY helpfull site that I'll DEFINETLY post the links, or just email you them through here... but I'm not on my own computer right now; I'm at a friend's house and won't be at my own house till friday or saturday.

KEEP us updated okay!?!

Good Luck Though
And also PLEASE tell me all about your dogs... both of them, cause' It's easier for me to talk about animals when I knwo what they look like, ages, sexs, names etc.! Okay!?!

Laura, how long ago did she escape the fence? You may still be able to get her spay! Since they are rescues the resue group will most likely insist that you do so anyway and as you know, having adopted rescue dogs, there are way too many dogs already in the pound now many being put down as soon as they go into the pound because they are already over crowded and only about 7% of dogs in shelters are purebred, most "pound puppies" are mixes that didn't grow up to be what the owner was hoping for or personality or health disorders that were unexpected. Good Luck with what ever you decide.
