funny story

So I have this bulldog named Virgil. Those of you who have read my posts know that I love this dog to death. You also know that I think he is as smart as a bag of nickels. Some of you have maintained that he is not stupid just behaving on impulse or insinct. Well it turns out that we are both stupid.

Two days ago I was relaxing in my house when I realized that the dog was nowhere to be found. I ran through the house yelling his name. Nothing. I ran outside yelling after the dog. It was 1:30 am. I live in the country but there are other houses around. Through woods and backyards I trecked alternately yelling his name and listening for him. Of course in the woods I would hear SOMETHING and run off after a groundhog or squirrel. All this in flip flops in the country. Dripping sweat 2 hours later, my feet covered in poison ivy I realize that the front door to my house is closed and that should Virgil come home he might leave again because he can't get in. So I go home still clapping and calling his name and when I get in the house and clap I hear him bark (his "someone is breaking into the house and I WILL BITE HIM" bark). I run through the house again looking for him. He is nowhere to be found. I run outside around the house looking for him. No Virgil. I go back in the house to look again and I open the door to the storage room and out he comes. The day before I had been putting boxes in there and thought that afterwards I closed the door all the way. He pushed his way in and on the way out he closed himself in. Then instead of scratching at the door to get out or barking he just went to sleep I guess. Needless to say I was so relieved that he got to sleep in the bed that night. End of needlessly long story.

That is a funny story. Sounds like something I did when Mya was only 6 weeks old. I ran around looking for her outside for about 45 minutes. When I gave up and went back into the house. I found her in the closet with the laundry hamper tipped on top of her.

Sorry you got poison ivy on your feet. That sucks.
