It seems to be very seldom that anyone post in here. We have a 9 yr. old male bulldog and now a 3 month old female. Also 2 Shepherds. I look forward to meeting anyone that might be out there.

What a little cutie!!! What is her name? What is your males name? I don't have a bulldog, but am fascinated by them. The ones I've been around have been so sweet! I was also just reading about them in Dog Fancy. Please tell us more about your babies.

Hi,
Her name is Rita and she is 3 months old, the males name is Rugby. We also have two GSD brother and sister. Biker and Katie. Rita just loves Biker, it's so funny to watch them play he is so big, 100 Lbs. and she so small, but he is really gentle with her. I love my GSD but Bulldogs are like no other breed. It's like there is a small child in them that never grows up. They are very intertaining.......What dog ownes you?
I have 2 greyhounds. Jadzia and Lyta. They are very sweet, but getting very old.

Very pretty dogs. I have friends that have greyhounds and yes they are very sweet dogs.
well, we used to be owned by an english bully but now I have an american bulldog. Our english passed away when she was 13 years old. If ever there was one up for adoption near by we'd snatch him up in a heart-beat! Yes they are very unique and have VERY big characters!

Oh Lord, don't let me once forget how I love my trusty pet.
Help me learn to disregard canine craters in my yard.
Show me how to be a buddy even when my sofa's muddy.
Don't allow my pooch to munch postal carriers for lunch.
Shield my neighbor's cat from view--guide my steps around the doo.
Train me not to curse and scowl when it's puppy's night to howl.
Grant I shan't awake in fear with a cold nose in my ear.
Give me patience without end--help me be my dog's "best friend".

I don't know anything about the American Bulldog. Are they anything like the English?
American Bulldogs are the closest descendants (sp?) to the first Bulldogs from England that were used in Bull-baiting and as game-keepers' night dogs. Actually... I guess they only used the ABs for breeding with mastiffs because the ABs were too drivey for that job. They have been in America for a LONG time. They were a pretty rare breed but now are becoming more popular. Farmers used them in earlier America to catch cattle and protect their estates. They are still used today in the southern parts of the US to catch wild boar. ABs tend to have pretty high prey drive. They're an athletic dog but many wrong people are starting to get into breeding and are producing the wrong kind of dog. They're making exaggerated heads and too wide chests that are not functional and just plain ugly if you ask me. There tend to be two, or you can say three, types of ABs. There's a standard kind that has a longer muzzle and a scissors or reverse scissors bite. They are more athletic and have better endurance. The Bully type has a shorter muzzle and an underbite. They're the ones that people are starting to ruin by putting too much emphasis on heads and chests. Then there's a "hyrbid" kind where these two types are bred together to produce a mix of the two. My girl is a "hybrid" by pedigree. She has an underbite but she has an athletic build and structure.
These dogs are awesome, if I may say so myself. However, some people disagree. To everyone their own I guess. They are versatile; I train my girl in conformation (akc-style) obedience, Rally-O, Agility, and Schutzhund. She is also going for her therapy dog title. They're wonderful with children, but, as with all dogs, it really depends on how you raise them. Socialization is paramount with them as an unsocialized AB can be a very difficult dog.
hehe.. I'm rambling!! I'm going to cut myself short before I write a novel. That's some info on ABs. If you want to know more just say so and I'd be glad to tell you more.

WOW! very interesting. I really didn't know much about English bulldogs till I met my husband and I am just in love with the breed. (don't tell my shepherds) I like the English because of their, shall we say, lazeyness. Rugby, who is nine doesn't require any exercise. Going outside to potty is about all he can handle. I appriciate you taking the time to give me that information. I hope to talk to you again.
