Will a german shepard get along with my dog?

beardielover13 Aug 01, 2004 02:03 PM

I have a 5 1/2 year old female springer spaniel. She is very sweet natured and excellent with all animals, even my 2 bearded dragons. I have always loved the looks of german shepards and know that they are good dogs. Will one get along with my dog if we got it as a puppy? Thanks.

A puppy will most certainly get along with your current dog. While it may annoy your dog, your dog will get used to it and probably get it in line after a while.

If you get a GSD of opposite sex from your dog, things will likely go just fine, and not turn ugly when the younger dog starts to mature.

why on earth not?

my friends beagle boarded here and we never had a problem!

Its all about the nature of the dogs, not the size, and puppies pretty much get on in any situation

Having a springer you know how to deal with stubborn dogs - shepherds arent stubborn, theyre smart - so training shoulder never "finish"

Springer's are not stubborn dogs at all. They want to please you and will do nearly everything you want them to.

must be a different line of springers we are talking about LOL

Ive worked with the breed and with people who breed them and the response is the same - theyre stubborn but willing to work if the right incentives are offered

however this was not the topic here so I think I will finish at that

They should have no problem getting along. just make sure you are getting one from a reliable breeder and the GS has a good temperment. We have 4 dogs, a Bchon, havnesse and a min-snachzuer. Our GS is 11 weeks old and they all get along great. but we also knew our breeder for many years and new the temperment of her dogs.
