Could "Jazz" be part Rhodesian? Part Shepherd? Part Lab? HELP!

jazzdiva Aug 10, 2004 11:48 PM

I adopted a beautiful golden brown dog from a local rescue society. She was described as a shepherd mix, maybe with a labrador (yellow) but in the few days I've had her, I've noticed a few unusual tendencies.....a dark ridge of hair (but not going in the OPPOSITE direction of her fur) down her bgack. A Dark pair of eyes and black nose. Soft ears that perk up but are generally down. She doesn't have big/broad legs and I consider her feet rather tiny. Her most distinctive feature is her tail, which is short. Not docked -- I know the difference, having had Dobes all my life. It's a brown fade to black and is typically tucked. Her tail is not even a foot long. She is sweet, laid back (thus the name) and tolerates the yappy dogs in my community with mostly an appalled look on her face while she hides behind me or tolerates the yappers patiently. She has growled and/or barked little, but only at men. She is 18 months old and was found sitting beside the road as if she was waiting for her people to come get her. If I post a picture or two, could somebody dissect this info and help? I love her no matter WHAT breeds she's representing, but I'm curious. Oh: She also lifts her front left paw and points at birds and loves to chase after the flitting chameleons so in abundance. She's bright, responsive, and still the most laid back dog I've ever had. She takes naps on the aisles of PetSmart!

HOW DO I POST / ATTACH A PICTURE OF JAZZ HERE? If you email me at SpriteFMY@aol.com, I'm happy to send you a picture. I appreciate this site so much! Thanks.

To upload a photo, follow these instructions:

Go to the Photo Galleries: http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/index.pl.

Scroll down until you see where it says Home, Profile, Upload Photos, and Login. This is just above the red header for the PetHobbyist Photo Gallery.

You will need to click "Login" and enter your user name and password.

Once logged in, click "Upload Photos".

Choose a category. We have a wide variety of categories for members to chose from. You can be very specific about where you put your photos, or you can put them in the Member Gallery. The Topic Galleries are reserved for just the animal that you are uploading. For example, a photo of a boa, could go in the Boa Photo Gallery. A photo of a dog, would go in the Dog Photo Gallery. A photo of you, would go in the Member Gallery, etc.

You will need to know where on your computer are your photos. Browse to your photos on your computer, and select the photo you wish to upload. Click ok. Photos need to end in one of 2 file types: .jpg or .gif.

You may enter a title, keywords, and description. That is your option.

Then click Upload/Submit.

Try to keep your photos of a smaller size. Many times a scanner or digital camera will make the photos huge. You may need to use a photo program to reduce the size.

Dogs come into our lives, and too quickly go leaving pawprints on our hearts, and we will never be quite the same again.
