Raising Jack Puppies

PD Aug 25, 2004 08:49 PM

I have a male and female jack. Neither have been "fixed". We had a litter of puppies (8) in January, I took them to the vet to have them checked and the vet said they were fine. Anyway, 5 ended up dying. I was able to save 3 of them after spending about $400! Apparently, they had round worm and flat worm which was causing them to be anemic (sp?).

Well, we had 8 more pups this morning, all seem to be doing fine now but the last litter made it about 2 weeks before they started dying. Can anyone give me some tips or suggestions on saving more of these. I know, find another vet....

Thanks in advance for any help!

First, don't take them into the vet. They are way to young to be around other dogs and could have easily have caught something at the vets. Are you breeding these two dogs for a reason?

No, not breeding for a reason...just have a male and female jack and now have puppies. I had every intention of getting them fixed before this happened again but never got around to it. Since we lost so many last time she had pups, I wanted to try to at least save them this time. Too late about the vet thing, had the tails docked yesterday. Everywhere I have read, you are supposed to have the tails docked in the first few days so I had to get it done. They were born Wednesday morning...she had a total of eight! Thanks for any help!
