Need Home for 2 Hybrids

jojoandhb Sep 27, 2004 09:59 PM

My husband and I are on the verge of losing our home. We hired a company to stop the foreclosure, but they say our debt to income ratio is too high, and we are going to lose the house. Our best guess is that we have 3 months before the house is sold.
We have 2 Hybrids, both fairly low content. Lakota is a male. He will be 2 in September. He is brown and black about 140 pounds. He is mostly German Shepherd and just a fantastic pet. He is gentle, sweet, playful, and he loves people. He also likes to jump like a kangaroo.
Cherokee is a feamle. She turned 1 in March. She is mixed with Malamute and German Shepherd. She is maybe 150 pounds. She is very very sweet. She likes to run and play. She also likes to chew and dig in the yard. She loves to be pet and has the nicest personality.
We have raised them with tons of TLC. They are our babies, and we would love to keep them. Unfortunately, we do not have the credit to buy another house and will likely move in with my family. We don't want them put to sleep, and all the rescue places I have contacted are full. They are a bonded pair and would need to go together. They need room to run and a lot of love. Please contact me if you can help!!
Please please please.

HI,
So sorry to hear of your troubles.
Have you found any help for placing your dogs?

jojoandhb Sep 29, 2004 03:33 PM

No luck yet. Every shelter, rescue, and refuge is full. The pound will put them to sleep, and the no kill shelter won't take them because they are part wolf.
Unfortunately, a ton of people take wolf dogs in as pets without knowing how to care for them, and it has become a huge problem. Tons of unwanted wolf dogs have nowhere to go. So, when people like us, who do care for ours and do take care of them and do know about their special needs, need to find a new home in an emergency, nothing is available.
We are working sooo hard to save our house. We're hoping we can and that we can keep the dogs. Unfortunately, we live outside Cleveland, and we were recently named America's poorest big city. Jobs are scarse and I have a college degree!
I hope I find something ASAP. I hope we can save our house. I PRAY we don't have to put 2 loving, young animals to sleep. I don't know if I could bare that.

Have you looked at rescues in other states? Some are willing to pay for the shipping. Some are willing to take the animals if you're willing to pay to have them shipped to them. For that matter there are alot of current wolfdog owners who would likely be willing to take them if you were willing to pay for the shipping, or for part of the shopping.

I have tried every single resource I could find. There were some in CO, AZ, and even FL and Canada. They are all full. One person told me he gets about 3000 requests a year. I keep getting the same response: Placing wolf dogs is very difficult and the problem is huge.
I am trying to find a person somewhere who has experience, a big heart, and some land. These dogs are sweet, gentle, loving animals. They are both under 50% content, and they are deserving of a good life.
Hopefully, we'll save our home. We're doing our best, but times are tough everywhere.

I would love to help. But I'm not able to take two dogs. And if you're anything like I am, I know you'd want them to stay together if at all possible. Not to mention the fact that it would be the best for the both of them.
I currently own one mid-high content male. I will see what I can do in Washington(State). I'll keep you updated. Maybe if you have someone else helping, we'll be able to save these dogs.

I definatley want to keep them together. You can't even take one for a walk without the other getting upset. They are a bonded pair and very close.
I have gotten some nice emails from people trying to help, and I really appreciate it. These animals are fantastic and need a good home. Thanks everyone for their help and advice.

Please try to contact Never Cry Wolf Rescue. The owner, Sam is a wonderful man. HE is usually overcrowded, and they are in California, but he may be able to get you in contact with someone that can help you.
Best of luck to you!

Looks like we are winning the battle for our house. We are doing a voluntary repossession on our car. My husband's aunt is giving us her old car. We will pay her for it in January when we get our taxes back. That will lower our monthly bills enough to qualify for help with our mortgage problems. So, we may be able to keep our home and our animals. We are doing everything we can. Wish us luck.
Thanks everybody!
