I'm new here, and I'd just like to show a picture of my German Shepherd, Cheyenne, she's purebred and the picture is a little older and needs to be updated. She is now about 4 1/2months of age and weighs close to forty pounds, is that good? I've never had a shepherd but I have a golden retriever aswell.

I love her color. She looks like she has a lot of silver? Very pretty!

I think that not quite 40 lbs. at her age might be about average- she's got some big front legs and ankle bones! But again, I suggest etting her off puppy food if that is what you are now feeding. She can be on adult food and it will be much more beneficial for her in the long run. Dogs do not needthe amt. of protien that is in puppy foods and esp. in large breeds it can cause problems with long bone frowth which can cause further health problems when they are adults. It cannot cause hip dysplaia as that is a genetic disease, but it can make such problems worse.
Best wishes to you both!
