Can I pass a Doberman of as a....

firebretha Sep 30, 2004 09:47 PM

"German Pinscher"

In my apt lease it reads that we may not have german shepards, Doberman pinschers, ETc.

Well I am moving out of this apt in june next year and would like to get a Dobe (in theory bending litter) around December in theory. That way the dog is a puppy and I figured could possible pass off for those few months as a "German Pinscher"

Thoughts?

If you got caught, you could be evicted. Think, too, about where you plan to live next, and whether you'd be able to get a place to live, get homeowner's insurance, etc. with a Dobe. A dog is for 10-15 years, so it's only right to think ahead.

oops,

Forgot to add that I will be moving back to IL with my father for a short while in his home and then to our own home/townhome.

I just wasnt sure if it was feasible to call em a german pinscher

German Pinschers are typically smaller and look like a shorter and petite doberman pinscher.

I wouldnt do it anyways because your risking getting thrown out BIG TIME.

Well....if you leave the dobe natural, it doesn't look like a dobe. Don't clip its ears or dock its tail and most people won't know what it is. I love the looks of a natural dobe much better than a cut up one.

I gotta agree with Melody on this one! Leave the dog au naturale and call him a German Pinscher.
