HALF RED/RUST AND HALF BLUE RUST???

My doberman pinscher is blue. It says on his akc cert.
However he doesnt look like any other blue ive seen... Hes a lot darker and in most lights he appears like a red/rust.

Is it possible he is half red rust and blue and rust.
Hi sparents and grand parents were all blk and rust but his great great grandparents and so on had all the colors farn and rust, red and rust blue and rust and blk

No, it's genetically not possible for a dog to be part red/rust and part blue/rust.

Blue Dobermans are blue because they have a modifying gene that dilutes black to blue. Fawn dobermans are fawn for the same reason-that same dilution gene dilutes red to fawn. That dilution gene doesnt dilute part of the coat.

Without seeing the dog, it's difficult to say what the problem is..could be the dog was registered as the wrong color, could be you got the registration papers for another puppy in the litter.

Dilution in the doberman is a recessive gene-that means both parents have to carry it for any of the puppies to express the trait. That makes it possible for two black dobermans to produce dilute colored puppies-IF they both carry the dilution gene.
