less talkative

My dogs (Rhodesian Ridgebacks) are all of quiet disposition. They seldom make any noise.

I foster-cared a German Shepard and this experience led me to rule out getting one, even though I like them very much for other reasons. This dog was quite intelligent but she liked to bark and make many different expressions with her vocal cord.

I read that both the Rottweiler and the Dobermans are quiet dogs. The would stop barking once that reason has passed.

Would you agree that the Doberman is a quiet breed?

My dog only barks if he sees a bunny but the people down the street do have a yappy dobe. I think in general they dont bark a lot though since thats the only one I've seen like that.

Most Dobermans that I know do bark at anything that comes within range of what they consider to be their territory. That can include the neighbors yard across the street - LOL! I don't find that they bark just to bark, but I would not term them as a quiet breed at all.

I sure wouldn't call them a quiet breed. Some bark more than others-training is necessary with any dog.

I have three dobies. The eldest one is very quiet but the other two are not. I have to use anti-bark collars on them.

depends on the dog!! My boy is quiet for the most part, but if someone walks past the house you can't hear yourself think; if one of my other dogs has a toy he wants he makes these bizarre whimperey-toddler-having-a-tantrum noises; and he whines for his dinner

oh, and rottweilers - they grumble. Some of them, a LOT, kind of like your GSd - my bitch is 3/4 rott, 1/4 GSD, and she is the noisiest of the bunch!
