"Runt" of litter question....

darrylv Oct 22, 2004 11:53 PM

Hi,

I was talking to a Great Dane Breeder and she said that all she had left was the "runt"/smallest pup of litter. Now I want a Great Dane that will grow to its large size, does this mean that the "runt" will stay generally smaller or won't reach full potential? Thanks for the help.

If you want a large one, not only do you not want to adopt a "runt," you also may want to adopt a rescue or breeder rehome so the eventual size will be evident. Also, in many breeds the males are larger than the females, so check on that with Great Danes, too.
