i have a beagle/hound mix that i got from a local shelter at the end of August and recently he has started to growl and snap at me and my family when you go to pick him up off of the couch and soemtimes when he is on the floor.. he started this about 3 weeks ago, i dont want to say it is getting worse but he has some good days and some bad days. some days he will and some he wont.. is there anyway that you can think of that i can get him to stop?

sometimes if we give him a little tap he gets madder and sometimes he doesnt..

so recently i have been putting him in his crate if he growls and snaps and if he lets me pick him up i give him a treat.. is this a good way to help solve this problem? or can you recomend something else?
