missing german shepherd

mykasch Nov 20, 2004 12:36 PM

Please help us get our German Shepherd puppy back. We sent him with our dog trainer on September 17 to be obedience trained. Our trainer began stalling on returning him and eventually quit returning our calls. When he finally returned our call on October 6, he claimed he lost our dog on October 5, in the Pasadena, LaPorte, Deerpark area in Texas. He's a male, black and tan German shepherd, large feet, red collar and was 6 mo's old on Oct. 7. If you know of anyone who has found or purchased a German shepherd fitting our dog's description from Southeast Texas please reply to this. Our kennel crate and leash were also missing but we got the kennel crate back several weeks later. This dog was not only family, but was also an anniversary gift to my wife. Please help us with any info. or advice that may help. We will purchase the dog back if found. Thanks, Jeff

Did you call the police. Let everyone in contact with the guy know what happened to. If you threaten to get the police involved and sue the pup may turn up. And are you still using/talking with this trainer? How did he say he dog was lost? Complain about it every where you can. It may also be worth a try to get in contact with other people who have lost dogs through him.I'm sure it isn't just you.

If you have good pics(even if you don't but there are probally more likely to do it then) of the pup get in contact with a local news station and see if they could do an investigative report on it. Did the trainer come recommended, how did you find him. I hope you get your dog back but you need to make sure this guy doesn't do it again. Even if by some chance it was an accident, ignoring your calls was not a good business practice!

Well, it appears that we will not see our beloved pup Kasch again, short of Divine intervention. Hopefully our tragedy will save others from this same pain. If you send your dog away with a trainer be sure they are reputable beyond question. We trusted our trainer because we had a friendly relationship with him. We should have known alot more before we entrusted our baby to him. Because of this we will probably never trust anyone with our dogs again. Sadly, all the good dog trainers will suffer because of the actions of a few. Jeff

How in the world does he explian he "lost" your dog
He is responsible
He should offer you reimbursment of something
If hes a good trainer he knew how much to trust the dog off leash or if it should have been off leash at all
He should pay for all costs of placing ads and looking for your dog.

He claimed the dog dug out of the yard. He offered reimbursement but never came through. Yes he said he would take out an ad but never did. His answer was he did not have the number to the paper and we got to it before he did. The reason we did it was because after 4 days of the supposed escape of my dog there was not one ad in the paper. He never made any offer or attempt to reimburse us for the 2 ads we took out. We could file suit, but a person of his obvious character is not going to comply with a suit, is he?

I feel for you.
I guess I just have a bad temper and will go to great lengths to right a wrong.
At least file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
I can only imagine how you must feel.
Do anything you can do to keep this from happening to someone elses dog.

call an attorney. It has been my experiance that if you say So and So is going to get in touch with you and hand them a buisness card from a attorney most people snap to attention. But if you do this be ready to back it up.

I'm not an attorney but the man had responcibilties that he did not seem to care about. I think the law would be on your side.

Also, are his training services registered as a business? If so then call the Better Business Beuro in your erea and report him.

If you start taking these kinds of actions with him he should take notice real quick. Do not roll over on this, you ar ein the right.

I agree with Scooter, I would not "roll over" either,,I would definately contact a lawyer,,ever watch people's court? That guy is responsible for your dog, whether or not you get a dime out of him, he should be held accountable , if you even take him to court and he's found guilty it will be on his record..

To THINK this guy was on THIS board giving out training information boggles my mind..

He's a worm in my book

I was able to get on the Troubleshooter Tom Martino show on 740 am Houston with my story today. They made contact with the trainer but of course he was unwilling to answer questions. He did admit to "losing" my pup but said other questions would have to wait for his attorney.

I'm glad to hear that some investigation will be done.
May save this happening again to someone.
Unreal.
I feel bad for your loss, I would be heartbroken if my pup got lost, let alone the other feelings I'd have if a "professional" lost my pup.

Do not lie down and just take it! Get an attorney- file a suit- even if you don't get a cent it is worth it so this guy doesn't get any more business. A responsible trainer, imo, trains dogs with their people, no. 1. And no. 2 must be exceptionally careful with anyone else's dog! They should be kept in a kennel with concrete and chain link! You really have to do something about this. Have you wondered if he sold your pup? Or even kept it? His place needs to be gone through thoroughly just to make absolutely sure. This SOB was on this list??? Who is he? The only one I have ever seen here is "Trainer Tom." Are they one in the same? Curious!

Yes it is trainertom.

fullottermoon Dec 13, 2004 04:16 AM

Well that's a damned shame! He used to give some good advice to people and really seemed to know what he was doing. Not any more!!! That's the problem with the internet. Oh well.
