Hernia??

LeannaK Nov 25, 2004 11:34 PM

I have a 3 month old Yorkie that had a hernia when I purchased her. The vet said it was not a problem unless I planned to breed her (she was bought as a pet only....) and that if I decided to have her spayed, they could repair the hernia then. I have done some research on the internet and the hernias sound scary and dangerous. Does anyone have any experience with an inguinal hernia?

Hi,

My cat had a hernia when he was a kitten. When we had him neutered, they fixed it and he has never had a problem since and he is not 16 years old. I would strongly urge you to have her spayed and have the hernia fixed then. A dog with this type of problem should not be bred.

Good luck and tell us more about her.
