A few Questions

earwiggy Nov 27, 2004 03:19 PM

I live in a suburb and was wondering how this breed does there. How big do they get? Do they require a lot of excersise? Do they bark alot? Answers to this and any other information would be helpful.

Thanks,
Casina

Hi Casina, I don't have a Cavalier, I have 3 Shiba Inu's and post on that board but at one time I was thinking about getting a Cavalier.

They are very intelligent dogs and smart enough to understand what you want and are fairly easy to train. They are pretty well behaved and generally get along well with other dogs and cats.

Cavalier's love people and need lots of companionship to be happy. They should not be left alone all day. If your looking for a lap dog this is the dog you would want. They will adapt well to an apartment. They are somewhat active indoors and a small yard would be sufficient for them to get some excercise in or even a romp in a park.

I would consider them to be a small dog, about 15inches in height and no more than 20 pounds in weight. Any Cavs I have seen are really sweet dogs.

Hi!

I have heard these dogs make wonderful pets. They were bred to be solely companion dogs. A small dog that needs to be with people. I agree with Bob, if you are a homebody and want a loving lapdog, this may be the dog for you. They ARE the dog of Kings!

I've thought this may be the dog for me when we retire. That's a long way off, but I'm thinking!

BTW, make sure you get your dog from a reputable breeder, or consider a rescue dog. Let us know what you decide!

Dogs come into our lives, and too quickly go leaving pawprints on our hearts, and we will never be quite the same again.
