Hello all, my 11 year old female boxer stopped eating nearly 4 months ago, was bloated and coughed when walking down steps.
Turns out she had heart problems (cardiomyopathy)and was put on lasix, enalapril and theophyline (asthma med for lungs). She recovered somewhat but still was filling up with fluids in her chest and she was not happy or eating well.
I ordered Vetmedin from England and had a cardiologist verify that it was safe to use. Well, she has been on Vetmedin along with enalapril, a much lower dose of lasix and also digoxin for three weeks now (dropped the theophyline) and she has recovered to almost normal.
If you have a boxer with similar symptoms, please ask your vet about Vetmedin. Vetmedin is not FDA approved, so you will have to order it through Canada, England or Australia.
My dog is playing again, eating like a pig and not gaining fluid in her chest. It is amazing! Any questions, send me an email - adakotab@yahoo.com.
