My five year old female golden retriever has developed a terrible case of "split ends" on her usually beautiful coat. She has not changed foods, has not been in chlorinated pool, does not have fleas. I've run out of explanations. Any suggestions?

Have her blood values for thyroid checked, lab work done by one of the labs approved at www.offa.org. Hypothyroidism is common in Goldens.
