We have a 1 1/2 year old male and are thinking about getting another dog. Any advice? We heard if we get a puppy we'd have to crate both of them. Not sure if we'd get a puppy or an older rescue dog. Any advice would be helpful.

My advice is to have the first dog at least two years and trained to very good manners and all basic needs prior to getting a second dog. If you get another dog too soon, they usually teach each other all their bad habits. If you train your dog first and take time to form a deep bond, your next dog learns the right things from both you and your other dog. And then I recommend getting the other dog of similar size and opposite sex. That's your best chance they'll get along well.
