looks like dandruff......

ReptiKH24 Oct 09, 2003 11:54 AM

i have 4 leos and 3 of them have like these little white flakes on them that look like dandruff. They looks almost like little crystals. What are these? I stared at them to make sure they dont move. Anyone know if this is bad. My albino seems to have the most on her mail. Not alot, but the better portion is on her tail.

I am thinking its little flakes of skin. Do your geckos get into little scuffles every now and again? If you house 4 together, they probably do every once in a while. I used to have the same problem when I had my one female in with my others. she would nip the tails and backs of her cagemates, and cause little flakes of skin on them, that looked like dandruff. Once i seperated the feisty one, they all were back to normal after a shed. So my guess is, they are bickering and scratching or biting each other and thats whats causing it. Little flakes of skin.

yep.. my thoughts exactly. They are like little flakes of skin, when they get into litte fights. Nothing major.

i house 2 females together and they are the ones that have it the most. My male is seperate and has it a little. I was thinking that maybe its because their humid hide has kind of a rigid opening and maybe they scratch themselves when they go in and out. My male doesnt have this problem because he always sleeps under the paper toweling. I just dont want it to be parasites or something.
