Two dogs sharing one food bowl?

zeus661 Jan 01, 2005 08:06 AM

What is the best way to feed two dogs? One or two food bowls? Keep them in the same place? Or separate from eachother? Any help would be appreciated. We are about to introduce a second Dachshund to our home.

Two food bowls and absolute physical separation they both know is secure. Don't let them be worrying about the other dog getting into their food. Even if they seem to do okay sharing a dish, it's safer to avoid the risks, because the risks can be huge.

I'd also recommend their own dishes. Hounds are very food driven and you wouldn't want to experience problems right off the bat. At first, I also suggest feeding them separately until you know how they will react.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes....also...pictures!!!!!

Dogs come into our lives, and too quickly go leaving pawprints on our hearts, and we will never be quite the same again.
