Adopting second dog

zeus661 Jan 07, 2005 10:52 AM

I went to petfinder.com and found two dachshund we are interested in adopting (in different adoption agencies). We are actually just looking for one but I thought I would fill out forms for both dogs. Anyway that was about 1 week ago. We have heard nothing back from either place. I did phone one place and was told I would hear something soon, but nothing yet. We chatted on the phone for over 30 minutes and I thought it was a good conversation. We already have a male dachshund and we consider ourselves pretty normal dog owners. Both dogs are about a 3 hour drive away and we made it clear we have no problem making the drive.

Anyway is this normal behavior for adoption agencies? Just leave people hanging? What do these places look for in owners? Thanks

Hi Zuess661, I have two rescue dogs myself and I can tell you this is pretty typical. Places like petfinder and breeders who do rescue place the safety and concerns of the dogs first, so I would give it a little more time. I'm sure it will work out for you.
