great dane/dalmatian mix? HELP

gr8_daneluvr Jan 16, 2005 12:43 PM

I got my dog as a Christmas present and I've always wanted a Great Dane. He was at a pound and we were told they think he's mix Great Dane but they didn't know with what. Another opinion was that he was full bred Great Dane. He's now 5 months old and about 50 lbs. The growth charts that I've seen say he should be about 75 lbs. I've looked at Mantle Great Danes and I haven't see any with spots on the white parts. Does he look full blooded Great Dane, or do you think he's mixed with something else?

here's a shot of his belly which has spotting as well. Mantle's that I've seen have a completely white underbelly.

Mantles often times will have spotting in their collars, on their belly or legs. Having said that, unless this is a very poorly bred dane, it does look like there is something else mixed in there as well. No telling what though Could be anything from a dal to a border collie and anything in between. The height/weight charts for danes are only averages. The only way you will know how big your dane puppy will get (without knowing what bloodlines s/he is from is to wait until they grow up Cute pup though and good luck with them!
