German Shepherd's

Hello everyone, I'm new to this group, and I hope I can learn some things here. I also hope I can share my observations of fifteen years with the rest of you. I am not a vet, I am not a dog trainer, I am not a breeder, and I am not one of these bull[bleep] " Authors" who seem to think that the simple fact that they have been published, gives them some expertise about our favorite dogs. These so called experts, or rather these "Published Experts" have done nothing but become published. All manner of garbage has become published in our nation. That is simply a consequence of our first amendment. "The right to free speech". I have read countless books about GSD's. Trying to sort the wheat from the chaff is the difficult part. Choke chains, spike collars, head halters, gentle leaders. Long lead or short lead. Shock collar or invisible fencing. Raw hamburger, raw chicken, moist food, dry food. Crate or kennel. Indoor or out. Master or friend. AKC, or not. Don't get me started about that crowd. There is a lot of things GSD's do that other dogs don't. We need to share the personally observed behavior patterns of our dogs with each other. If we do that, we can help our dogs, we can help ourselves, and we can put to rest to these one-line answers these so called "Experts Trying Sell Us A Book And Become Acclaimed As An Author!! There is the rough, and there is the diamond. With GSD's, we are living in the rough.

Craig,

I totally agree we need to forget the "Formality" of breeding, showing,or owning a dog. When people come here looking for help they don't want to here they should of got a better dog or their dog needs to be spayed, they simply want an explanation of the best way to correct the problem and any alternatives. They don't want to hear "you need a specialist" when their are viable options.

Craig I welcome you here and look forward to hearing fresh ideas from you.

That's a nice looking dog.

And thank you for that opinion! The true teacher is experience! The fact that your name is on a book doesn't mean anything anymore. Finding "specialists" and paying for them (!!!) are usually out of the average person's reach rendering it useless info for most of us. These boards are here for everyone to share experiences and ideas. They are here for the "Average Joe." They are ere so we can pool our ideas and experiences in hopes that they will help someone else.
Thank you for confirmng what I have maintained as my belief of what these forums are here for! Bravo!!!

I had to look into the back yard and see if you swiped my dog! He's bigger then yours apears to be but they could be out of the same litter. I'll try to get a picture up later today.

Hi Aramos, nice looking dog you have there. I like your comment about being spayed. I've had two GSD's spayed and I never noticed a nickel's worth of difference in their behaviour.

P.S. I can't figure out how to post a picture here, any help out there for the newbie?

There are some from both sides of the fence on this board. But you find that everywhere. I happen to agree with you. Welcome to the board.
