Hello everyone,
My name is Esther, l live in Belgium and since last sunday we have adopted a Beagle, of just four years old.
Prior to us he was kept as a laboratory dog, at the uni. Student vets used him to train taking blood, other than that he has learned virtually nothing.
He is an absolute sweetheart and he has well adapted to living with us in our home but there remain a few problems.
He marks his terittory inside the house, which he does by peeing against our furniture and of course we are not too pleased with that.
He is also terrified of things going on outside the safety of our home and garden since he has never heard any of those.
How can we train him not to pee inside the house, if this is still possible? The problem is very imminent as it is decided "once more, he goes." l dont want to let him go.
Also, is taking him on short walks a good way to help him get over his 'street fear'?
Thank you already!!
