I know she's a mix, but I noticed there are no Catahoula's up here! This is Cookie, she is twelve weeks old. Isn't she unique? I can't wait to see what she looks like full grown!

she is adorable! I cant wait either
where is up here by the way? I am in Alaska and I have seen one official Catahoula and one possible(I forgot to ask the owner!) They are beautiful dogs but seem "full" of themselves haha! And have read they are dog aggressive...but what can you know from a book and 2 appearances! Dogs are all diffent even in a breed! I hope you keep posting her picts. shes cute and so different!
Sorry, I mean "Up here" as in "Up on this forum!" I am from Boston but I had never heard of Catahoulas before I met my Cookie. I have done a lot of research on them and have learned that they can be aggressive to strangers and other dogs, but we are going to enroll her in puppy kindergarten and expose her to a lot of different people and dogs and hope for the best!
Being from Alaska, you must understand the pain we're going through up here with all this damn snow! We got over three feet in one storm! Thats the most we've ever gotten! It's nuts! We're all so sick of it!

ACTUALLY...no! It hasnt snowed where I live since dec. 24th. And the snow isnt any higher than my knee in my yard, but then I live on a hill so give or take a few inches. The best thing you can do is take your pup to places where people and dogs are present. I would get a puppy book however, because if your pup has a bad experience such as a dog being aggressive and it scares her etc, it can tell you what to do because i hear all the time to not condone when a dog is afraid such as fireworks dont give treats and say its ok etc. I love dog classes tell the truth, and I am a very shy person! But the thing about them is: dog gets a workout mentaly and phsycily! the dog is tired when they are done, hopefuly!
you learn a whole lot! I learn everytime I go and ive been going for about a 1 and a half! What some owners dont know is half of the dogs problems are the owners own faults! and the dog becomes a better "canine citizen" its so nice to show people that your dog can sit for a pet and not be crazy jumping on them. Its cute when they are small to be so playful but when they are bigger its annoying.
I hope your girl does well! Come back to the forums and update us or if you need help
I can't believe we got more snow than Alaska! Ok thats it! I'm moving! :-P It's probably a lot colder their though, no? It's been cold lately, in the single digits, but this week it's warming up to the 30's!
I am definitely going to enroll her in Puppy Kindergarten. And we're meeting as many people and dogs as we can! We took a trip to the pet store the other day, and a friend of mine came over with her Black Lab, that was fun! And tonight we're going over my uncles house, he has a 6 month old boxer, that should be good. I do have a puppy book and it says if you're puppy gets scared of something, like a mailbox, laugh at the dog, call him silly, kick and touch the mailbox, stuff like that. it says NOT to condone them and the worst thing to do is pick up the puppy. Crouch down my the thing that is scaring him and try to coax him over to check it out, stuff like that.
Overall things are going good. We need to work on her barking and her jumping, I don't want these problems to still be problems when she is an adult. But overall she is a great girl!
We're all so sick of it!
hey Speak for your self! I'm not sick of it. I want more more more!
I am about 1.5 hrs north of Boston.
Where abouts? I am just outside of boston in a small town called Winthrop. We got about 37 inches of snow from the big storm, and another 10 on top of that a few days later.
Thank god its warming up though! What we really need is a good rain on a nice warm day. This snow isn't going ANYWHERE for quite some time. My guess is some of the mounds will still be hanging around by Easter!
