Warning about coins

Furiouswolf Feb 05, 2005 08:24 AM

I have been envolved with dogs for over 40 years and believe this is the first I've heard of this. On a recent visit to my vet I was informed of a case of lead poisoning. Seems they almost lost this poor pooch due to no antidote being available. Local hospitals had none due to the fact that lead poisoning in humans is so rare. The antidote was eventually found and flown in from another state. The dog got lead poisoning from eating coins. I've personally never had a puppy or dog even pay any attention to coins but I guess there is always a first time. Which could be your dogs last. Needless to say I am being very careful about leaving loose change around the house.
